Cosmetic Dermatology

The evolution of cosmetic dermatology has expanded the reach of services to include more refined procedures that are able to reduce the tell-tale signs of aging and sun damage and to tone, smooth, and even-out skin imperfections of all varieties. With recent advances in the field of dermatology, it is becoming easier and more affordable for more and more people to achieve the perfect skin they desire.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure used to resurface the skin. It is often called a "lunchtime peel" because it is quick and there is no down time.

This is a new skin treatment that removes the top layers of the skin by "sand blasting" them with crystals. This treatment exfoliates the skin, accelerating the formation of smoother, clearer skin. This procedure usually treats the face and neck but can be performed on any part of the body.

Botox injection

A major study of Botox as a treatment for wrinkles was published in 1995, and since then cosmetic dermatologists have enthusiastically used it to treat forehead lines, frown lines and "crows feet". Botox is a toxin, but it's extremely safe because it's used in such small amounts and is not spread throughout the body. There are no side effects and only the injected muscle is affected.

Collagen injection

Collagen is a protein that acts as a support structure for the skin, and unfortunately it breaks down with age. Older skin tends to lose its tone and elasticity as it loses its collagen supply. Fortunately, there are several types of injectable collagen that can help the skin to regain its youthful appearance!

Collagen replacement therapy helps to smooth facial lines on the surface of the skin by supplementing the collagen under the skin. This procedure provides results that can take years off a patient's face.

Laser resurfacing

Skin resurfacing can be done with several techniques, such as chemical peels, dermabrasion or laser skin resurfacing. Depending on a patient's specific conditions, needs and history, a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist will determine which treatment will best serve each patient. Each of these procedures can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots or acne scarring.

Skin resurfacing techniques are so popular because in most cases they are minimally invasive and require little recovery time. Once it's been determined which form or forms of resurfacing will provide the best results, patients are on their way to smoother, clearer and younger looking skin in no time at all.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

How do IPL treatments work?
IPL treatments are performed with a non-invasive medical system that uses intense pulsed light therapy to reduce melanin, the dark pigment in your skin. The light energy is gently delivered to your skin in pulses, through a delicate, computer-controlled handpiece. After your IPL treatment, the treated vein, lesion or hair will gradually fade and slowly disappear.

Are IPL treatments safe?
Yes. IPL systems have been used successfully in hundreds of thousands of treatments. IPL allows your doctor to customize each treatment to your specific skin type and condition being treated. This flexible, interactive approach to treatment cannot be reached using any other non-invasive treatment currently available.

Do IPL treatments hurt?
Some patients say they feel a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band on the skin, followed by the feeling of sunburn. However, anesthetics are not necessary.

Recommendation
We normally recommend a suite of services to compliment the other surgical procedures for our patients who are willing to stay longer in Thailand post-surgery.
